Venice’s Highlights
All that you should see in Venice in ONE tour!
This tour is dedicated to the most important monuments and traditions of Venice: all that you cannot miss, even if you have little time available. The tour begins with a walk through St. Mark’s Square where you will learn about the history and the artistic aspects of all the most important monuments. You will see the famous Bridge of Sighs, the imposing architecture of the Ducal Palace and the Renaissance Library of Saint Mark (called Marciana).
Particular attention will be paid to the Basilica of San Marco, also known as the Golden Basilica, where you will admire its most precious treasures. You will see the approximately 90,000 square feet of golden mosaics, the four bronze horses and the Golden Screen (Pala d’Oro) decorated with 1,927 precious stones.
The second part of the tour will take place in a less crowded area, away from “madding crowd”, to discover some of the most characteristic corners of the city. You will see where Marco Polo’s home was located, before reaching Campo San Giovanni and Paolo. This is one of the most interesting and monumental square of the city. You will appreciate a splendid Gothic church and a magnificent early Renaissance architecture, the former seat of the Fraternity of Saint Mark, as well as the well-known equestrian monument of Bartolomeo Colleoni.
The tour continues at this point on a traditional boat crossing the lagoon of Venice to discover its natural features.
Finally you’ll reach Murano island famous for its glass factories. You will have the opportunity to admire the incredible ability of the glass masters to mold a fluid mass of glass and transform it into an authentic piece of art. There will be some time for shopping before returning to Venice. The light games on the water surface will add a charm to the return journey, which will allow you to see the historic Arsenale (the old Shipyard) before returning to San Mark’s square.
