Impressive mosaic ceiling of the Basilica of Saint Mark

The program of this tour includes everything you should absolutely see when visiting Venice.

The tour begins with a visit to the most important museum of our city: the Ducal Palace, which was for a thousand years the seat of the government of the Venetian Republic. We will talk about the origins of Venice and the main historical facts that characterized the long-lasting period in which Venice was an independent state. You will see in detail the peculiar political system that characterized Venice, as well as the works of the main artists of Venetian painting decorating the large institutional halls. Finally, crossing the Bridge of Sighs you will also visit the State Prison used until 1922.

After leaving the palace, you will visit the splendid St. Mark’s Basilica to admire the over 86,000 square feet of golden mosaics and the splendid Golden Screen (Pala d’Oro) decorated with almost 2,000 precious stones.

The tour continues with a ride on a private boat through the lagoon of Venice, offering a particular view of the city seen from the water. It will be an opportunity to realize the remarkable extension of this particular natural environment and the different aspects that it can offer.

You will then visit the island of Murano, famous for its secular artistic blown glass production. Until the end of 1700 Venice maintained the monopoly of high quality glass production, and the ability of Murano glass masters is still unmatched today.

You will have the opportunity to visit one of the best glass factories where a true production takes place. After the visit to the glass factory, and some time to shop around, you will be taken back to Venice, sailing along the old and glorious Shipyard and the Lido Island.

Please Notice: the Doge’s Palace ticket is a museum pass and it includes also the entrance to the Correr Museum and the Library of Saint Mark (see our classic tour 7)

The tour price includes: the service of a certified tour guide for 5 hours and the hiring of a private luxury water taxi for 1 hour, and  the ride back to Venice.

The tour price does not include: admission  fees, food and beverages
